Con Brio Choral Society
Christmas Concert: Friday, December 12, 2008 at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Old Lyme, Connecticut
Con Brio proudly presents the first US performance of Antonio Vivaldi's (1678-1741) newly discovered major work, Dixit Dominus RV 807. Arguably the most significant Vivaldi discovery in modern times, musicologist Dr. Janice Stockigt, of the University of Melbourne, discovered this important work in the Saxon State Library in Dresden, where it had lain forgotten, being wrongly attributed. Musicologists have placed this magnificent piece on a par with Vivaldi's famous Four Seasons, in term of its beauty and importance. Con Brio will also be performing its celebrated pot-pourri of Christmas Carols (with audience participation) and other Seasonal works, accompanied by the Con Brio Festival Orchestra.
Commemorating Josef Haydn (1732-1809) and joining the international celebration of his musical legacy, Con Brio proudly presents a major Haydn Mass in the Spring 2009 concert. The sublime 'Dona Nobis Pacem' from the acclaimed 'Harmonie Messe' will be performed at Con Brio's upcoming Christmas concert.
