Chorus History

Formed in 1997, Con Brio is the realization of a vision held by eight experienced choristers. Their goal is uncompromising musical excellence in an auditioned, amateur chamber choir. Con Brio now numbers close to 50* auditioned and highly motivated singers from Branford to Glastonbury to Groton and beyond.

Attracting both professional musicians and enthusiastic amateurs alike, many of Con Brio's members sing or have sung with other choruses including Concora, Hartford Chorale, The New Haven Chorale, Pro Arte Festival Chorus, Oratorio Society of New York, the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Connecticut, Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra Chorus and Cappella Cantorum.

In April 2007 Con Brio celebrated its 10th Anniversary at its Spring 2007 Concert. This featured the world premiere performance of 'Didn't It Rain' by Dr. Peter Bagley, which was specially commissioned by Con Brio to commemorate the occasion.

*The Board of Directors in conjunction with the Music Director has set an upper limit of 50 singing members.
